Although only 3 cuts, this cd is perfect.Godd for yoga, massage, or body work.
I bought this CD a decade or more ago. I am not 100% sure, but I believe my daughter was born during the time this CD was playing. It is incredibly calming. It's one of my most favorite meditation CDs. However, after 79 hours of labor, it was maybe 7 or 8 months before I could play this or any meditation CD again. I've taken this camping with me, and sometimes have it playing when I'm writing or doing work. I can't even remember when. I have even been to spas getting a massage and I will recognize this on the practitioner's CD player.
In fact, when I got married, this was our music, flowing over a meadow and pond, as our guests were seated. It was also one of the few CDs I put on my iPod and had on a loop while I was in labor for 79 hours. It set the tone for a perfect wedding, and my daughter and I had a calm labor and birth. But I have started listening to it on occasion, and it is even on my daughter's iPod.
The drummming is harmonious to your heart beat. Shamanic Dream, Vol. Perfect for background or for pure relaxation. 2 (2002) is the perfect instrumental (with some chanting) album for a mellow and relaxing trip to wherever your imagination can take you. The album has a tinkly sound somewhat like rain which runs throughout. Can be used for meditation, contemplation, yoga, or any sort of relaxation or spirituality one might practice. Take the trip.
I have listened to Shamanic Dream I for about six months, and love the CD. I am a regular yoga practitioner, but also a stay at home mom with all the din, stress, and drama surrounding the life of two small children. I can listen to my kids ask questions, make dinner, do a few rounds of Surya Namaskar A, all the while with the steady thump of Shamanic Dream II playing and it is like I have been given a sedative. Yet, it was better than the first and I knew I had to get it. My breath slows down almost to an Ujjayi depth, dinner is completed, and everything is calm. The trancelike, methodical beat does not put me to sleep, but centers me, energizes me, and calms me all at the same time. I debated for a while - so many reviews said it was too similar to the first one. But when my yoga teacher recently played Shamanic Dream II in class, I knew it was Shamanic Dream - it had that distinctic sound. I put this CD on in the kitchen, and everybody and everything tones down.
But since I loved the first one, I thought why not have more of a good thing.I was not disappointed. I love this CD for a number of reasons, but the main reason is it puts me in a completely relaxed mood. In fact, tonight, I had to ask my husband to please not disturb my mellow and get out of the kitchen because he was rushing around in there trying to "help" with dinner. Highly recommended.
This is very similiar to the first Shamanic Dream but unlike what other reviewers have said I do think it is different. I like both--this one has more vocals though they are very subtle(chanting Om Shanti) Both have a very dream like trance inducing quality-- my favorites of this genre. I do not like to use this one for my acupressure and massage clients though because of the chanting.
